At the time of the 1880 Census of Leitchfield, Grayson County, Kentucky the Jacob A. Baker household consisted of: Jacob A., a farmer, age 44 (TN NC TN); his wife, Martha A., a house keeper, age 41 (KY KY OH); and children: John H., age 12 (KY TN KY); Jas. Frank, age 11 (KY TN KY); Elizabeth A., age 9 (KY TN KY); and Charles H., age 7 (KY TN KY). Living with the family was John Baker, listed as Other, a farmer, age 89 (SC Holland Scotland).

Other census data says John Baker was born abt 1791 South Carolina. As John Baker was living in White County, Tennessee 1820-1850, his children were born in White county, TN. The Baker family were early settlers there and John's father, Peter Baker, filed his Revolutionary War Pension from White County which names the children still living at the time of the death of Peter's wife, Mary. According to that document, John Baker was b. abt 1791. While the Bakers may have been of Holland Dutch ancestry, Peter Baker was born in New Jersey and served in the Revolution from North Carolina.
