s/o James W. & Mary E. Conrad Curfman

Ivey Curfman was born December 17, 1886 on the family farm near Reedy, West Virginia. Her parents were James Washington Curfman (1863-1950) and Mary Elizabeth Conrad (1863-1944) who married January 1, 1884 and had four children: Ezra Curfman born Nov. 29, 1884, Ivey Dell Curfman born Dec. 17, 1886, Mack Curfman born July 27, 1888 and Rosco Curfman born May 9, 1892. By about 1890 the family moved to Frozen Camp, Jackson County, West Virginia, about twenty miles from Reedy and ten miles from the Ohio River. Mack's father James Washington Curfman was born during the Civil War, the second of nine children born to Samuel Henry and Mary Ann Cain. James was a farmer and handy with other business lines, including teamstering oxen to haul logs to local mills and other work that he could find.

When their mother Mary Elizabeth got older and in declining health Ivey took care of her for a number of years. At that point they lived in Parkersburg. Ivey did not marry or have children.
