TUPPER LAKE-Rena P. Peets, 87, of Tupper Lake, died Wednesday, Jan. 24, 2001 at Mercy Healthcare Center in Tupper Lake where she had resided for the past year.
Born on March 10, 1913 in Tupper Lake, she was the daughter of John and Lena (Gallant) Papin. On Sept. 16, 1933, she married Henry Peets at St. Joseph's Chapel in St. Alphonsus Church by Monsignor He???. Mr. Peets died on March 9, 1976.
Mrs. Peets attended school at Piercefield Academy and worked at the Manor Lake Inn during the 1932 Olympics. She was employed for over 20 years at Mercy General Hospital, retiring in 1975. She was a member of the St. Anne Society, Franklin County National Advisory Committee and an active member of the Adirondack Adult Center, serving on the Board of Directors.
She is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law: Clarence and Rita Peets of Tupper Lake; Ben and Charlotte Peets of Tupper Lake, and Roger and Denise Peets of Tupper Lake; two daughters and sos-in-law: June and Paul Charland of Tupper Lake and Nancy and Michael Wituszynski of Pittsfield, Mass.; 15 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren and one sister, Hazel Sparks of ???, Nev. She was predeceased by four brothers, Elmer, John, Lawrence and Walter, and two sisters, Gertrude LaForest and Lena Benware.
Calling hours will be held on Sunday, Jan. 28 from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at the FortuneKeough-Rennell Funeral Home with a wake service at 8 p.m.A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Monday at 9 a.m. at the St. Alphonsus Church with the Rev. Donald ??? Burial will be in the parish cemetery in May.
