"Mrs. Sam Abrams Final Rites Held Wednesday Morn
Funeral services for Mrs. Fannie Abrams, 89, were held at 11 a.m. Wednesday from Brookhaven Funeral Home Chapel with Rabbi Arthur Lebowitz of New Orleans officiating. Interment was in Rosehill Cemetery. Mrs. Abrams died Tuesday morning in a local nursing home after a long illness.
A native of Kansas, Mrs. Abrams had resided in Brookhaven since 1900. She was the wife of the late Sam Abrams, former Mayor of Brookhaven and an Alderman for 20 years. She was a member of B'Nai Sholom Temple.
She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Lillian Buchman and Mrs. Harry Samuels, both of Brookhaven; a daughter-in-law, Mrs. Minnie S. Abrams of Jackson; six grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Harold Samuels, Melvin Buchman, Calvin Buchman, Sam Abrams, Louis Diment of Magnolia, Clifford Abrams, Morris Sherman of Port Gibson and Mike Wetter of Magnolia."

"Mrs. Fannie Diment Final Rites Held In B'haven October 30
Many relatives and a wealth of friends mourn the passing of Mrs. Fannie Diment Abrams, widow of the late Sam Abrams, prominent merchant and public spirited citizen of Brookhaven for many years.
Mrs. Abrams who was 89, came to Brookhaven from Topeka, Kansas where she was married on June 6, 1900, and had been a resident of Brookhaven for sixty-three years.
Relinquishing her own home, she had lived with her daughter, Mrs. Lillian Buchman for a number of years, and subsequently she was in King's Daughters Hospital and later in Monell Smith's Rest Home where she passed away on Tuesday, October 29th. Throughout her long illness, she had the constant love and attention of her two daughters, Mrs. Harry Samuels and Mrs. Eli Buchman.
Mrs. Abrams' joy was her home, family, relatives and friends. After her husband's death on November 17, 1933, her grandson, Harold Samuels, lived in her home with her for a number of years until because of ilness, she went to live with her daughter, Mrs. Buchman.
Rabbi Lebowitz on Wednesday last in a beautiful tribute, spoke of Mrs. Abrams having brought "joy" and comfort to many a heart. Fannie Abrams radiated warmth and gentle kindness. Pleasant and devoted, she, during her illness, demonstrated an unusual kindness and quality of never complaining. She was serene and understanding and many were her friends.
"Coming to Brookhaven as a bride, she was fortunate in having loved ones near all during her life She was a woman of valor, a wonderful person whose every kind word and deed will serve as her memorial. She will live in the hearts of her children, grand and great-grandchildren for where, therefore he made Mothers'. The memory of this wonderful woman will live on and continue to bless our lives. To live in the hearts we leave behind us, is not to die."
Services were conducted on Wednesday, October 30th at 11 A.M. by Rabbi Arthur Lebowitz with interment in Rose Hill Cemetery.
Mrs. Abrams is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Harry Samuels, and Mrs. Lillian Buchman; a daughter-in-law, Mrs. Minnie S. Abrams, of Jackson; six grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. A son, the late Clayton Abrams, preceded her in death some years ago.
