Funeral for George Vanarsdall to Be Thursday
A 35 year-old Shelby County veteran of World War II has died at the Indianapolis Veteran's Hospital following a two-month illness.
George M. VanArsdall of Jackson Township, died at the Veteran's Hospital early Tuesday.
His death was attributed to leukemia. He had been ill for two months and a patient at the hospital for the past week.
The war veteran, who enlisted in the army in 1942, served for 32 months in the Southwest Pacific Theater of operations and was discharged on November 3, 1945.
He made his home with his father, Everett VanArsdall in Jackson Township.
Deceased who was a member of the Disabled American Veterans and a former member of Victory Post No. 70, American Legion, was born in Shelbyville on January 15, 1912.
Besides the father he is survived by a sister and four brothers, Alice, Harry and J. Everett, all at home, and two other brothers, Albert of Moral Township and Rollie of Shelbyville.
Funeral services will be held at the Sleeth Funeral Home at 2:00 p.m. Thursday.
Burial will be made at the Miller Cemetery.
Friends may call at the mortuary after 1:00 p.m. today.
