Mr. Smith was a construction worker for the Vanda Dunn Asphalt Corporation.
A son of Lewis G. and Loutissa(Stout)Smith, he was born Jan. 21, 1931, in Shelby County. He was married Jan. 21, 1964, to Rita Kay Purcell, who survives.
Also surviving are his father; six children, Samuel Smith, Franklin; Danny Smith; Mrs. Jerry(Gina)Redd, R.R. 8, Shelbyville; Mrs. Dwayne(Kelly)Fricke, Greenfield; Miss Peggy Smith and Bobby Smith at home; and four grandchildren. Other survivors are four sisters, Mrs. Lorene Hilligass; Mrs. Barbara Cotton, Columbus; Mrs. Sandra Redd, Rushville; Mrs. Karen Frazier, Indianapolis; and Miss Freda Smith.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Carmony Funeral Home with the Rev. Gary Evans officiating.
Burial will be in Miller Cemetery.
Friends may call from noon until time of the service Tuesday at the funeral home.
