He was born in Franklin County on Jan. 18, 1912, to George J. Turner and Hattie Ann Turner Turner. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Cora Price, Lelia Turner and Elva Prillaman; and three brothers, Charlie Turner, Lester Turner and Archie Turner.
He had retired from the retail grocery business.
Turner was of the Primitive Baptist faith.
Surviving are a daughter, Nancy Turner Beeson of Bassett; a son, Donald W. Turner Sr. of Martinsville; a sister, Odessa T. Via of Fieldale; a brother, Sylvester Turner of Collinsville; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be at 3 p.m. Monday in Roselawn Burial Park with the Rev. Ken Cleveland officiating.
The family will receive friends from an hour before the service at Norris Funeral Services and other times at the home.
