He served in both the U.S. Army and the U.S. Air Force in Japan and the Philippines. He was a Raleigh resident for the past 49 years where he retired from sales with Brady Trane Company. Among other interests, he took great pride in restoring his 1955 Cadillac that was previously owned by the governor of South Carolina.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Edith Lewis Crawford; sons, Bobby Crawford and wife Melanie, Fuquay-Varina, N.C., Thomas Crawford and wife Ruth, Wendell, N.C., and Russell Crawford; daughter, Mary Hunting and husband Stephen, Charlotte; brothers, Richard Crawford and Mack Crawford; sisters, Faye Grant, Lila Brown and Lois Blalock; grandchildren, John and William Hunting, Lauren and Michael Crawford, Matthew and Sarah Tiller, Ashleigh and Jennifer Crawford and their mother, Susan Lewis.
