WALLINGFORD: Grace May Eaton Douglas, wife of 63 years to the late John H. Douglas, died Friday, December 25, 2009, at the Masonicare Health Center in Wallingford.

Grace was born in Dover, New Hampshire, February 7, 1917, a daughter of the late Harold Eaton and Edna Wiggin Eaton. She worked in New York City as a registered nurse before returning to New Hampshire where she worked as a surgical nurse. She moved to Connecticut after her marriage in 1946 and worked for many years at the maternity unit at the former WWII Veterans Memorial Hospital in Meriden until her retirement. She enjoyed traveling throughout the United States and Canada and was an avid knitter and ceramics artist. She was, in every sense, a true New England Yankee.

She is survived by her daughters Elizabeth Aubin and her husband Richard of South Meriden and Joan Bilodeau of Halifax, MA; her granddaughters, Stephanie Aubin of Kentucky and Jennifer Aubin of Wallingford; her grandsons, Matthew Aubin and his wife Katie Lagana of Milford and John Aubin and his wife Jessica of Ellington; eight great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Her family would like to thank the Miller Memorial Community and the Masonicare Health Center for the great care and compassion they provided.

Her family will receive relatives and friends in The Wallingford Funeral Home, 809 North Main Street, Ext., Wallingford Tuesday, December 29, 2009, from 10:30 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. A funeral services will be held in the funeral home at 11:30 a.m. Interment will be in the State Veterans Cemetery in Middletown.
