Chevalier De Ordine De Piano (Knight of the Order of Pius). Fought for Pope Pius IX, 1860. Enrolled, September 10, 1862, at New York city, to serve three years; mustered in as second lieutenant, Co. F, 155th NY, November 17, 1862; Commissioned second lieutenant, December 5, 1862, with rank from November 8, 1862, original; Wounded in action (ankle) April 1863 and commissioned as first lieutenant, Co. K. May 13, 1863, with rank from April 15, 1863, vice J. McAnally promoted. Killed in action, June 16, 1864, at Petersburg, Va. Buried originally on The Ruffin Plantation, one mile north of Meade Station, to the right of the railroad, then reinterred at City Point National Cemetery.
