Anna L. Lau
SPRING GROVE - Anna L. (Sprenkle) Lau, 78, of Spring Grove, died at 2:46 p.m. Monday at York Hospital. She was the wife of William E. Lau, who died Feb. 3, 2000.
The service will be 2 p.m. Thursday at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 201 S. Main St., Spring Grove. Burial will be in St. Peter's (Lischey's) Church Cemetery, Spring Grove. Viewings will be 7 to 9 p.m. today at Irwin Funeral Home, 175 N. Main St., Spring Grove, and 1 to 2 p.m. Thursday at the church.
Mrs. Lau was born May 8, 1923, in Menges Mills. She was the daughter of the late Harry E. and Martha S. (Rearich) Sprenkle.
She and her late husband owned A&B Catering in Spring Grove for 20 years and owned the former Bill Lau's Cafe in York. She also managed The Lake Club in Spring Grove for 20 years. She was a 51- year member of Spring Grove Women's Club; a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Spring Grove, Spring Grove Area Historical Preservation Society and Friendship Hose Company Ladies Auxiliary in Spring Grove; and the 1998 recipient of the Spring Grove Lions Club Citizen of the Year award.
Mrs. Lau is survived by a son, George S. Lau of Spring Grove; a grandson; three great-grandchildren; and three brothers, Harry "Hap" Sprenkle of New Freedom, David Sprenkle of Spring Grove and Earl "Shorty" Sprenkle of York.
Officiating at the service will be her pastor, the Rev. Daniel V. Biles III.
