  • Death 1748 USA
  • Burial Ridgefield, Fairfield County, Connecticut, USA

IMPORTANT: burial in this cemetery is "more" than UNCERTAIN, in-as-much-as he died about ~1748 during King George's War. (It is NOT KNOWN - if his body was left above-ground [in-situe]; burned [military disposal]; buried in the "wilds"; or repatriated back to his family in Fairfield Co., CT.).
---
His lineage is considered to be the "toughest" to trace - in-as-much-as James Resseguie Sr. (b.1713, d.uncertain) is believed to had died in Canada, around 1748 or so (possibly at Louisbourg). A clue (to his being dead prior to 1752), is the fact that he was not mentioned in to Will of, nor left an inheritance from his father (c.f. father's Will, i.e. Alexander Resseguie ~1679-1752). The "James Jr." family received nothing.

I (JimR) wonder where they were living at that time? Had James' (unknown name) widow relocated? Or (even) remarried? We may never know ...and if naming-patterns held true, then her first name may have been, "Jane" (since her only daughter was named, Jane). "Jane" might also be the grandmother's name instead.

COMMENTS: James Resseguie, born: Nov 6, 1713. A thorough search of records and diligent inquiry fails to gain much information concerning him. The only scrap attainable besides the record of his birth, relates to the fact that he died during King George's War. That he married and had a family is beyond question - for circumstantial evidence points to him as the progenitor of a goodly line of descendants. In the absence of documentary evidence this may be considered amply sufficient to justify the place given him by the compiler.
