"H.J. KESSENICH, TAILOR. Mr. Kessenich was born April 27, 1833, in Prussia. He came to America February 14, 1857. He learned his trade in Europe with his brother. He was from 1853 to 1856, a soldier in Berlin in the Prussian Army. His parents came to America in 1855. His father, Henry Kessenich, died in Madison, August 4, 1878, and his mother died January 7, 1864. Mr. Kessenich was married October 31, 1858, in Madison, to Miss Gertrude Goergens, a native of Prussia. They have five sons and five daughters."
