Wilma Eileen McCammon, 88, rural Montpelier, died at 4:34 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 6, 2007 at Ball Memorial Hospital in Fort Wayne.Born Jan. 27, 1919 in Blackford County to Howard and Ellen (Willman) Stroble, she married Murl C. McCammon Oct. 14, 1945 in Hartford City. He preceded her in death Aug. 2, 2002.A 1935 graduate of Hartford City, she graduated from Taylor University in 1964 and received her Master's degree at Ball State in 1968. She taught in the Roll and Montpelier Schools, retiring in 1987 from the Blackford County School Corp. Active on the family farm in Harrison Twp., Blackford County, just across from the Wells County line, she was a skilled seamstress and a member of the Gideons Auxiliary. A member of Zion Lutheran Church, Hartford City, she taught Sunday School for 50 years. A past president of the Blackford County Teachers' Association, she was a member of the Indiana State Teachers' Association.Survivors include two daughters, Melanie McCammon of St. Joseph, Mich., and Risa (Richard) Kinney of DeMotte; a brother, Blaine (Myrna) Stroble of North Fort Myers, Fla.; three sisters, Rhea (Robert) Rodgers of Richmond, Ohio, Mary Ellen (Bill) DuBoise, Mishawaka, and Barbara Thomas of Hartford City; and one grandson.She was preceded in death by sisters Charlotte Stroble and Joyce Stroble and brothers Richard Stroble and the Rev. Howard Stroble Jr.Services at 11 a.m. Saturday will be at Zion Lutheran Church, Hartford City, under the direction of Pastor Mary Lundquist. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery, Hartford City.Calling at Glancy Funeral Homes-Walker Chapel, Montpelier, will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Friday.Memorials may be made to the Gideons International and/or the Special K Ranch, Columbus, Montana.
