Herbert Raymond Shelton, Jr., 85, passed away October 24, 2007 in Sugar Land, TX. He was born December 10, 1921 in Dallas, TX to Ray & Beulah Shelton and is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Mary Norton Shelton, his 4 children, Steve Shelton of El Campo, Valerie Kodell of Little Rock, Nancy Pruitt of Sugar Land, and Lee Shelton of Richmond, cousin Gladys Cooper of Wilton, AR, daughters-in-law Rose Shelton and Barbara Shelton, son-in-law Ralph Kodell, 10 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, and many other loving relatives and friends.

Herbert proudly served in the United States Navy during WWII in the South Pacific as a Chief Petty Officer. He retired from Exxon/Humble Oil after 36 years of service mostly in the Natural Gas Dept. in downtown Houston. Herbert graduated from Sugar Land High School in 1939 and attended Texas A&M before the war.

The family visitation and the funeral service will both be held at the First Presbyterian Church of Sugar Land (FPCSL), 502 Eldridge Rd., with Rev. Kevin Keaton officiating. The family visitation will be held Friday, Oct 26, from 7:00 - 9:00pm; funeral service Saturday, Oct 27, at 11:00am; interment in Morton Cemetery at 2:00pm in Richmond, TX.

Memorial contributions can be made to the FPCSL Sanctuary Fund, which Herbert helped plan & raise to God's glory.
