Businessman. He was the second generation in the business of making the mouth-wash Listerine. He entered his father's business of Lambert Pharmacal Company, the maker of Listerine and other products, in 1898 by working his way through the various humble positions including the bottling of the product until eventually he becoming the vice president. "St. Louis, The Fourth City" Volume III states that he was well-educated and became respectable member of the community noted for his integrity.
