Dona Joy Gordon was born on Jan. 11, 1927 in Sioux City, Iowa. At the age of 12, she invited Jesus Christ to be her Lord and Savior. On Dec. 2, 2010, she passed from this earthly life to live eternally with Him.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Donald Gordon; and her parents, Walter and Altha Simmons.

Dona was the epitome of a quiet, gentle spirit and humble heart. She served her family with unselfish love and skill. Although the time came when she no longer was able to serve physically, she continued to be a prayer warrior for her family.

She is survived and missed by her children, Sue and Rick Hendrix, Barb and Mark Hanson, Pam and Andy Cuttell, and Doug and Jenifer Gordon; grandchildren, Aaron, Dan, Naomi, Nicole, Donny and Tera; her great-grandchildren, Eric, Zack, Leah, Kayleigh, Daniel, Travis and Ashlyn; her sister, Marian Streissguth; and brother, John Simmons.

Visitation will be held from 10-11 a.m. on Monday, Dec. 6, 2010 at the Schmidt Funeral Home Chapel in Katy, where funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. with Dr. Charles Wisdom officiating. Interment in Katy Magnolia Cemetery.
