Businessman. He was the son of George Tinker, the founder of the Tinker and Smith Malting Company. He entered his father's business as secretary and treasurer. After his father's retirement in 1896, he purchased the Algiers Brewery of New Orleans, Louisiana in 1894 reorganizing this company. It then became known as the Security Brewer.
