Alfred R. Magers, 87, died at 11:10 p.m. Monday in Rolling Meadows Health Care Center, LaFontaine.

He was born in Marion to the late Charles and Emma Magers. He married Elizabeth Ann Burns on Oct. 9, 1947, and she survives in Rolling Meadows Health Care Center, LaFontaine.

Alfred retired as a die maker from General Motors in 1984 after 28 years. He was a World War II Army veteran. He loved baseball and was an avid St. Louis Cardinal fan. He loved to hunt and fish, and was a member of Ducks Unlimited and National Rifle Association. He had been a resident of Marion most of his life.

Surviving in addition to his wife are a son, Terry L. (Linda) Magers, Marion; grandson, Timothy Magers, Marion; sister, Betty Whitehead, Fairmount; and several nieces and nephews.

He was also preceded in death by a son, Jeffrey L. Magers; and several brothers and sisters.

Services are at 11:30 a.m. Friday in Needham-Storey-Wampner, North Chapel, 1341 N. Baldwin Ave., Marion, with the Rev. Lorne MacMillan officiating. Burial is in Estates of Serentiy.

Visitation is from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home.
