Son of Thomas and Anna Cosens was born in Canada West being one of a family of ten Children of which three brothers still survive. He departed this life at his home in Jefferson.

In the year 1870 on July 3 he was united in marriage to Susan Chase, dau. of Rev. John W. Chase, who preceded him in death. To this union were born four children two boys and two girls. Clara Estelle preceded him in death.

Until 1901 he lived in Iowa, afterwards moving to Minnesota where he lived ten years. He then returned to his farm in Bristol township, Greene Co. Iowa. In 1925 he moved to Jefferson where he resided until his death.

He leaves to mourn their loss three children: Lottie E and Clarence R. of Jefferson; and William Earl of Carroll; also three brothers, three grandchildren and four great grand children and a host of friends.

Service was held at the Kendrick Friends church and interment at Dillavou Cem. next to his wife who preceded him in death 35 years ago.
