William V. Valentine, Jr., 92, of York New Salem Borough, passed away Wednesday, December 1, 2010, at York Hospital. He was the husband Edna M. (Hoffman) Valentine. The couple celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary on July 28, 2010.
Born March 29, 1918, in York, a son of the late William V. and Mary I. (Creager) Valentine. He was a 1935 graduate of North York High School, and retired from B.M.Y. after 32 years of employment. After his retirement he worked in the Prothonotary's office at the York County Courthouse. Mr. Valentine was a member of Saint Stephen's United Church of Christ, where he served on the Consistory. He was also a member of the West York Borough Council; West York School Board; West York Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8951; Viking Athletic Association, and was secretary and treasurer for the York Traffic Club. In addition to his wife, Mr. Valentine is survived by a daughter, Sandra R. Mundorf, and her husband, Raymond of York; five grandchildren, Kenneth Mundorf, Edward Mundorf, whom he resided with, Nicole Valentine, Karen Mundorf, and Christina Valentine; nine great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Paul W. Valentine; and a sister, Mildred Sleeger. Burial will be in Prospect Hill Cemetery."
