BERA GAYNELL STROTHER O'DANIEL

TALLASSEE, AL -- Bera Gaynell Strother O'Daniel, the widow of state Rep. Houston Holmes "Runt" O'Daniel, died Monday at her home of cancer. Mrs. O'Daniel, 73, was a homemaker and lived at a Route 1 address. She was a native of Shawmut, AL. Her husband, who died in 1980, was a representative for Elmore County in the 1970s. He was also a real estate broker, according to Jane Lawrence, the couple's daughter. A member of Bethlehem East Baptist Church, Mrs. O'Daniel had lived in Tallassee for several years.

The funeral will be 3 p.m. Wednesday at the Bethlehem East Baptist Church with Revs Evan Johnson and Don Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Jeffcoat Funeral Home is handling arrangements.

In addition to her daughter, Mrs. O'Daniel is survived by two grandchildren and a nephew. There will be a time for visitation tonight at the funeral home and again on Wednesday at the family residence after 10 a.m.
