"The community was shocked at the suddden death of Dr. Neilson W. Pinkerton, prominent optometrist of this borough, on Monday morning, April 29. Mr. Pinkerton was in apparent good health, having attended the regular church services and taught the Dorcas Bible Class during the Sunday school session of Zion Lutheran church on Sunday morning. When his wife went to call him for breakfast on Monday morning he was found dead. Death was caused by a cerebral hemorage. His age was sixty years, eight months and nine days. He was the son of the late George W. and Amanda Warren Pinkerton and for thirty-four years conducted a jewelry store in this borough. For the past forteen years he was in the employ of Appel and Webber, at Lancaster, as optometrist, and also practiced at his home at No. 13 West Gramby Street. He was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church, Order of Independent Americans and and Order of United American Mechanics. Besides his wife, Mary Elizabeth Sachs Pinkerton, four sons survive: George J., of Lancaster; Neilson H., of Bethayres; Albert W., of this borough and Paul E., at home. Also two brothers, Herbert G. and Lloyd E. Pinkerton, both of Lancaster. Services were held this (Thursday) afternoon at 2 o'clock, at the home with interment at Fairview Cemetery."
