Born in Brockton, Anna was boarded at an orphanage in Boston, Massachuesetts at the Baldwin Place Home for Little Wanderers.
At this time in December 2010 her plight remains a mystery as to the unfortunate circumstates that led Anna to be placed at the orphanage. Or how her adoptive parents came to learn of a little girl in need of a home and be part of a loving family.
Her birth parents are unknown, as stated in her Petition of Adoption dated December 7, 1886 in Logan conty, Ohio. Twenty days later in a notarized Answer and Consent to the Ohio court signed by Varnum A. Cooper, Superintendent of the Baldwin Home for Little Wanderers, dated December 12, 1886 Mr. Cooper gives his consent for Anna's adoption and for her name to be changed to Anna Forsyth. The Answer and Consent record was filed nearly five months later in the Logan county Probate Court on May 16, 1887.
Anna married Victor H. Kelley, October 22, 1896 in Logan county, Ohio the son of Mahala Francis (Garber) and George Washington Kelley. The couple were joined in matrimony by her adoptive grandfather Henry Garber who was a minister of the gospel. After moving to Michigan Anna and Victor had at least 1 child, son Ray Edward Kelley born in 1900.
By 1910 Anna was divorced, had returned to Ohio and residesd on Newell St. with her parents Robert & Mary Forsyth and Anna's son Ray in Liberty, Logan county. The 1910 census also reveals she having given birth to 3 children but only 1 was living.
Tragically in 1922 her son Ray died in a fatal car accident.
Anna Kelley married again to William Guy in Indianapolis, Indiana at the home of his sister Mrs. Mary Hochstetter. They lived in Anna's house and made their home in West Liberty, Ohio. As published in the January 9, 1930 edition of West Liberty Banner, Ohio newspaper.
Anna shares a double marker with her son and only child Ray Edward Kelley.
After reserching Anna's life journey and viewing the documents of the sources mentioned, with each question answered, new questions arise.
