Chicago, Aug 10.--Charles William Clingman,... a Chicago pioneer long prominent in the dry goods industry, died last night at his Summer home at Channel Lake, IL. He had celebrated his eight-third birthday last Friday. Mr. Clingman retired from business ten years ago, after having been associated with Leiter & Co., Field & Leiter and later with Carson, Pirie & Scott's wholesale organization and John V. Farwell & Co. He had been general sales manager of the last two named firms.
