Los Angeles Mayor. Born in Waterloo, Nebraska and a veteran of the Spanish-American War, George Cryer graduated in 1903 from the University of Michigan Law School. He was the first U.S. Attorney for Southern California (1910 to 1911) and the first City Attorney for the City of Los Angeles (1912-13). In 1921, he was elected as the 32nd mayor of Los Angeles and his administration built the Los Angeles City Hall which still to this day is a monument to him and the era of its creation.
