Saturday morning at the home of his daughter, Mrs. A. R. Sheffler, at No. 259 South Columbia street, occurred the death of William Beck, one of the pioneer citizens of the county, his death being due to the infirmities of old age, after a lingering illness.

The deceased was nearly 81 years of age and had lived in this and Carroll county for the greater part of his life. When his wife died about five years ago, he left Geetingsville and had since been making his home with his children. The surviving children are Mrs. J. A. Bosworth and Mrs. Will Robinson, of Geetingsville, Mrs. J. W. Campbell, of Ft. Collins, Col., while Mrs. Alexander Strong is a step-daughter. Andrew Beck of Burlington is a brother and the six sons of the brother will act as the pall bearers at the funeral.

The funeral service will be held at the Presbyterian church at Geetingsville at 10:30 o'clock on Monday, the services being conducted by Rev. Prentice.
