Joe K. Sheets, 60 of Vermilion, died Sunday, February 24, 2008 in Cleveland Clinic Foundation after a year long battle with cancer. He was born May 29, 1947 in Newburg, WV and has been a Vermilion resident since 1980 moving from Sheffield Lake.

He worked for Ford Motor, Lorain as a tow motor operator for 38 years retiring in 2006.

Joe was a member of the UAW #425. He enjoyed gardening, cooking, working out, and especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife of 38 years, Carmen "Linda" (nee Hebb) Sheets; sons, Joe Sheets of Vermilion, and Jesse Sheets of Vermilion; daughters, Tracy Binder of Vermilion, and Jana Grable of Colorado Springs, CO; 9 grandchildren: Shana Lynea Ball, Alexandria Sheets, Angie Sheets, Jada Faye Grable, Joseph Neil Sheets, Arika Ann Sheets, Brandon James "Bubby" Binder, Michael Anthony Joe Grable, and Jenna Faye Binder; brothers: Harry Watkins of Kingwood, WV, Neil "Tom" Sheets of Charlestown, WV, Michael Sheets of Newburg, WV, and David Sheets of Bealton, VA; sisters: Reneita "Patty" Sapp of Newburg, WV, Iris Belcher of Bud, WV, Sally Williams of Virginia Beach, VA, Sandra McDaniel of Fellowsville, WV, and Carol Anders of North Carolina.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Neil and Edna (nee Watkins) Sheets; brothers: Stephen and Robert Watkins and Darrell Sheets; and sister Rosemary "Janie" Dixon.

Arrangements were handled by Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street, Vermilion, Ohio with Rev. Wallace Justice officiating.

Private inurnment was held at Brownhelm Cemetery.
