Andrew J. Graves, aged 87 years, a Civil War veteran and a former resident of this city, died Friday evening [October 21] at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Margaret Smith, who resides west of LaPlata. The deceased served with an Iowa regiment during the war. He was a member of the local G. A. R. Post, which had charge of the funeral services at Ownbey Lake Sunday morning [October 23] at 10:30 o'clock. The funeral sermon was preached by the Rev. Albert Dobbs. The deceased is survived by the following children: Andrew Graves and Mrs. Mollie Williams of this city; Mrs. Margaret Smith and Mrs. Alta Reed of La Plata, and another daughter in Michigan.
