Ethel Booher, 99, of Vandalia, died at 7:40 a.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 30, at Fayette County Hospital Long Term Care.

Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 4, at First Baptist Church of Vandalia, with the Rev. Robert Weaver officiating. Burial will be in McInturff Cemetery in rural Hagarstown. Hohlt and File Funeral Home of Vandalia is in charge of arrangements. Visitation will be held from 9:30-10:30 a.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church of Vandalia.

Mrs. Booher was born on May 7, 1911, in Pomona, Mo., the daughter of Grover and Anna (Reyburn) Brotherton, both deceased.

She was a cook for Evans Hotel of Vandalia and worked at the Johnson, Stephens and Shinkle Shoe factory in Vandalia and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Vandalia.

She was married to Oscar Gates on June 1, 1928; and Lee Booher on Jan. 6, 1959. Both husbands preceded her in death.

She is survived by daughters, Donna Wood and Gail Swanson; a step-daughter, Agnes Stone; a step-son, Gary Booher; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. She also was preceded in death by step-sons, Winston and Roger Booher; a brother, Everett Brotherton; and a sister at infancy.
