Obituary for Mrs Joyce Jones Lindsay
Joyce Jones Lindsay, 87, passed away on August 1, 2015. She was born on July 25, 1928 in Mobile, AL. She was the daughter of Hardy Herring Jones and Willie Etta Clark Jones. When she was still a child, her family moved to what is now Moss Point, MS where her father worked at International Paper. In 1946, shortly after graduating from Moss Point High School, Joyce married the love of her life, Dougald John Lindsay (better known as D. J.) Joyce led a full life, enjoying her children, grandchildren and her family.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Dougald John Lindsay, her parents, and five of her siblings, Lois Jones, (Joyce’s twin, who died in infancy), Harold Emmit Jones (Nita), Edith Aliece Lindsay (Walter), Hardy Wilton “Tunker” Jones (Louise), Eula Irene Beck (Richard)

Joyce is survived by one sister, Frances Manning (Carroll),Moss Point, MS, one daughter, Freda Davis (Buddy), Grand Bay, AL, and three sons, John Douglas Lindsay (Wanda), Moss Point, MS, Arnold Lindsay (Glenelle), Opelika,AL, and Brian Lindsay (Connie), Beulah, MI
Joyce and D. J. were blessed with eleven grandchildren: Richard Cameron, Sara Briceland, John Lindsay Jr, Micha Faucett, Amy Neal, Josh Lindsay, Keri Thorne, Jennie Thompson, Jessica Thomas, Brianne Lindsay, and Andrew Lindsay.
She also leaves to cherish her memory fourteen great-grandchildren: Justin Cameron, Loran Wiggins, Caleb Cameron, Lydia Cameron, Layla Walker, Lauren Stone, Paige Neal, Samara Neal, Dylan Thompson, Addison Lindsay, Avery Lindsay, Cade Thorne, Carter Thomas, and Olivia Thomas. She will also be greatly missed by her many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Joyce was long time member of Kreole Methodist Church, moving to Safe Harbor Methodist Church when Kreole Methodist combined with Escatawpa Methodist Church. She was also a proud member of TOPS, attending meetings and serving as an officer in the local chapter until it dissolved. She was especially proud the year she was the top loser for the entire state of Mississippi.

A visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 4, 2015 from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Holder-Wells Funeral Home in Moss Point, MS. The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, August 5, 2015 at 11:00 am at Holder-Wells Funeral Home in Moss Point, MS with a one hour visitation prior to the funeral. Burial will immediately follow at Jackson County Memorial Park in Pascagoula, MS with Brother David Cumbest officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donating to Alzheimer’s Association, Mississippi Chapter.
