Times Record 4-22-1942 -- KNOX SERVICES ARE HELD AT MILLERSBURG - Earl Knox, 46, Dies at Home in Aledo Sunday Following Illness of Several Years; Born at Joy
Earl Knox, 46, of Aledo, died at his home on West Sixth street at 10:45 o'clock Sunday morning, April 12, after an illness since early in 1937. He suffered a stroke of paralysis three years ago.
Mr Knox was born at Joy Sept 8, 1895, and married Miss Esther Terry of Millersburg, June 26, 1917. The family home was in the Joy community several years, and in Rock Island six years. He was a member of the Methodist church and a World war veteran.
Surviving are the widow, three sons, Robert, Stuart and William; his father, W.S. Knox of Aledo, and a sister Mrs Clarence Kiddoo of Joy.
Funeral services were held on Wednesday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock in the Latter Day Saints church in Millersburg. Elder J.O. Dutton of Galva officiating.
Pallbearers were Ross, Floyd, Terry and Paul Dunca, Verne Terry and Francis McAdams. Singers were Mr & Mrs John Cady, Mrs Estel French, Earl Scranton, who sang "Abide With Me," "In the Garden" and "The Old, Old Path." They were accompanied by Mrs W.V. Holmes at the organ.
Burial was in Peniel cemetery. Short services were held in the home. The Sherrard mortuary of Aledo was in charge of arrangements.
