She departed this life on a Sunday at the age of 91. She was the daughter of Roy and Lula (Estes) Coon. Janet was a lifelong resident of Stoughton and graduated from Stoughton High School in 1937. She attended "The Cradle" in Evanston, Illinois for infant care training. Janet worked in child care in Evanston prior to returning to Stoughton and worked at Stoughton Hospital as an infant care nurse. In 1960, she married Ed Bryant and together they enjoyed traveling, including several trips to Africa and Europe prior to his death in 1972. In 1979, Janet married Loren Gilbert and he preceded her in death in 1998. Janet was a member of Stoughton United Methodist Church and their Friendship Circle. She was also a member of the Stoughton Hospital Auxiliary, the Venus Chapter of the Eastern Star No. 16, and the Stoughton Country Club. Janet will be remembered for her caring and generous nature and her support of numerous charitable organizations throughout Wisconsin and in particular, the Stoughton community. Her generosity has touched many, both directly and indirectly. Her caring spirit and desire to give back to others will continue through the Edwin E. and Janet L. Bryant Foundation Inc., which she established. Janet is survived by nieces, nephews, and their families, Mary Kay Rutlin, Paul Coon, Nancy Borchert, Robert Coon, James Coon, Kay Bryant Lysne, and Betty Bryant Henry; and niece-in-law, Linda Coon. She is further survived by step-daughters, Marci McCoy and Susan Dawson. In addition to her husbands, she was preceded in death by her parents; brother and sister-in-law, Roger and Betty Coon; niece, Linda Coon; nephew, Thomas Coon; and great-nephew, John Coon.
