daughter of George Thacher (12 Apr 1754-06 Apr 1824) and Sarah Savage (27 Jun 1760-May 1843)

Sally met Joseph when he lived in the family home, serving as a family tutor and preparing her brother George for further studies.

m Joseph Adams on 23rd or 25th June 1810 in Biddeford, ME; intention filed on 9 Jun 1810
Children:
- Benjamin Pratt Adams (17 Mar 1812-31 Oct 1821)
- Sarah Thacher Adams (11 Dec 1813-8 Nov 1868) m John Quinby Day
- George Thacher Adams (9 Jan 1816-)*
- Elizabeth Adams (30 Apr 1819-6 Oct 1819)
At least two sources give the name of another child, a first-born daughter, Mary Haven Adams but no vital records have been found to substantiate this child.

It should be noted that when Sally Bigelow Thacher died, Joseph married her cousin Sarah Tyler Bigelow. Their mothers, Sarah and Lucy Savage, were sisters with common grandparents of Samuel Phillips Savage and Sarah Tyler.

* According to Totten, George died in his youth away from home. Of him nothing was known by his living family connections (in 1913). The tradition is that he wanted to go to sea and his father not consenting, he ran away when he was 19 years old and was never heard from. "He was a very wild boy."
