Mrs. Ira Brown
Mrs. Nancy Stoutenburgh Brown, daughter of the late James and Melvina Stoutenburgh, was born in Reich township, Ontario, February 9, 1842, and died in Shepherd at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Frank Burt, June 22, 1927.
She was united in marriage to Ira Brown, March 7, 1871. They immediately came to Michigan and located in Flint. In May 1881, they moved to the home where she passed away. To this union were born six children, May and Joseph passing away in infancy; G. Oren of Royal Oak; J. Edward, Mrs. F.E. Burt, and Walter of Shepherd.
Besides the husband and four children she leaves five grandchildren and two sisters, Mrs. J.H. O'Brian of Uxbridge, Ontario and Mrs. Charles E. Brown of Flint.
Funeral services were held Friday afternoon at the home of Mr. and Mrs. F.E. Burt, conducted by Rev. I.W. Kimberling and internment took place in Riverside cemetery at Alma.
Out-of-town friends attending the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. W.J. Myers of St. Louis, Mr. and Mrs. Henry McNamara, George Ward, Mr. and Mrs. L.G. Burt and Mrs. Clark Burt of Alma, Miss Dunbar and C.E. Moody, of Owosso, Miss Lefa Murphy of Durand, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Brown of Flint, Mr. and Mrs. J.H. O'Brien of Uxbridge, Ontario, Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Acre and Mr. and Mrs. Downey, of Mt. Pleasant, Oren Brown of Royal Oak, Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Deline and Mr. and Mrs. Ira Best of Adrian.
