MOLINE — Services for Phyllis M. VanHyning, 64, of 4806 11th Ave. A, will be 11 a.m. Monday at Mackey Daws Funeral Home, Bluffs, Ill. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Bluffs.
Visitation is 6-8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Mrs. VanHyning died Thursday, Sept. 11, 1997, at River Park Health Care Center, Rock Island.
Sullivan-Phillips Mortuary Ltd., East Moline, is in charge of arrangements.
She was a homemaker and mystery writer and had started several books.
Phyllis Powars was born Oct. 6, 1932, in Palmyra, Mo. She married Dean Hutton. She married Richard VanHyning in 1977 in Rock Island.

Survivors include her husband; a daughter, Nancy Landress, Galesburg, Ill.; stepdaughters, Lori Jones, Mayfield, Ky., and Cindy Garrison, Coal Valley, Ill.; sons, Michael Hutton, Pittsfield, Ill., and Randy Hutton, Murrayville, Ill.; a stepson, John VanHyning, Colona, Ill.; and 17 grandchildren.
