Lon was the son of James Monroe & Eliza Jane Foster Bailiff. He married Netter Davis 9 Apr 1893 in Dekalb Co., TN.. They had seven children: Alma Floy, Eunice, Lola Esta, Lilus Rhea, Gladys, Pattie Monroe, & Paul Fuson Bailiff.

Funeral services for Alonzo Farmer Bailiff, 90, will be held at one o'clock Thursday afternoon, March 9. The Rev. Floyd Hooper, Grady Crook and Hubert Nixon will conduct the services at Snow Hill Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Snow Hill Baptist Cemetery. The body will remain at the Walker Funeral Home until time of services. Mr. Bailiff died Tuesday after an extended illness at his home in the 24th district of Dekalb County. A native of this county, he was the son of the late James Monroe and Eliza Jane Foster Bailiff. He was a farmer of the Dry Creek community, and a member of Snow Hill Baptist Church. Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Netter Bailiff; a son, Paul Bailiff of Smithville; four daughters, Mrs. Lola Elledge of Hendersonville, Tenn., Mrs Lillus Taylor and Mrs. Gladys Robinson of Detroit, Michigan, and Mrs. Alma Hale of Dowelltown; two brothers, Dee and Theo Bailiff of Dowelltown; 12 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.
