He was a lifelong resident of the Shoals and an avid antique car collector, who enjoyed working on his cars as much as he loved to show them off. He was a member of the pipefitters local No. 760. After retiring from J.K. Johnson, Joe enjoyed walking his two favorite dogs, Dixie and Molly, around the old village Liberty Bell field.
Visitation for Joe Callahan will be 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 1, 2010, at Morrison Funeral Home, Tuscumbia. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Sheffield Oakwood Cemetery. The Rev. Berkley Webb will be officiating.
Mr. Callahan was preceded in death by his parents, Mary Jo Lyle Callahan and Joseph Wilson Callahan Sr.; and granddaughter, Ashley Brooke Callahan. Survivors include his four children, Vicki Callahan Flower (Ben), Joseph William Callahan (Janice), Carol Callahan Cole (Carl) and David Wayne Callahan (Paige); seven grandchildren, with two great-grandchildren on the way.
The family extends special gratitude to everyone for their prayers, thoughts and support.
