Obituary, The Columbia Daily Tribune, November 23, 2010:

Willard Arthur Warford, 83, of Glasgow passed away Sunday, Nov. 21, 2010, at the Golden Living Center.

Services for Mr. Warford were held Tuesday, Nov. 23, at Friemonth-Freese Funeral Home in Glasgow with the Revs. James and Jane Crooks officiating. A Masonic Service was presented Nov. 22 and a visitation held at the funeral chapel in Glasgow, with burial in the Walnut Hill Cemetery. Bradley, Chad and Andrew Monnig, James and Steve Shipp, Chris Duren and Marion Sanders served as pallbearers.

Willard was born April 15, 1927, on a farm southwest of Armstrong to Ova Jennings and Fannie Sue (Robertson) Warford. Willard was a member of the Glasgow United Methodist Church. He married his high school sweetheart, Janice Duren, on June 19, 1947, and they were married for 60 years. He graduated from Glasgow High School in 1945 and enlisted in the U.S. Navy and was stationed on the USS Salisbury Sound.

Willard and Janice started their married life in Columbia while Willard attended the University of Missouri. He graduated with a business degree in 1950. After his graduation, they moved to Moberly, where Willard worked for two years as an assistant manager at Montgomery Ward. In 1952, Willard and Janice moved back to Glasgow. In 1958, they purchased Lamb's Hardware, which became Warford's Hardware. After selling the store in 1968, Willard began working for the MFA Coast to Coast, opening stores in Salisbury, Macon, Albany and Marshall. In 1970, Willard began working as a foreman at the DuPont Plant in Moberly. He later retired as a 20-year salesman from Riback Supply.

Willard volunteered at the Golden Living Center, served on the Glasgow City Council and served the city as mayor. He was a member of the Glasgow School Board, past member of the Glasgow Chamber of Commerce and Rotary Club.

He is survived by his son, Robert Warford; daughter, Rhonda Monnig (Dale); three grandsons, Bradley Warford Monnig, Chad Ginter Monnig and Andrew Tyler Monnig, all of Glasgow; two sisters, Mildred Sue Wathen of Vero Beach, Fla., and Eller Jean Shipp (James) of Franklin; and numerous other extended family members.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by six brothers-in-law, three sisters-in-law, one niece and one great-niece.

Memorials can be sent to the Glasgow United Methodist Church or the Senior Center in care of Friemonth-Freese Funeral Service, 112 Market, Glasgow, Mo. 65254.
