"Millard County Progress" Published 8/28/1925 - MRS. ELLA COWLEY JOHNSON DIES AT MEADOW - Mrs. Ella Cowley Johnson passed away Sunday, August 23rd, 1925, at the home of her parents Mr. and Mrs. Richard A. Cowley, of heart trouble and brights disease, from which she had been suffering for sometime.
Mrs. Ella Cowley Johnson was born at Meadow, July 8th, 1900 and was married to Doyle G. Johnson of Scipio, October 17, 1923 in the Manti Temple.
Funeral services were held in the Meadow Ward Chapel on Monday, August 24th, with Bishop Jesse J. Bennett in charge. Singing by the choir "Sometime We'll Understand", Prayer by Charles Swallow, song by choir, "Sister Thou Wast Mild and Lovely", speech by Stake President J.A. Beckstrand, Piano solo by Miss Wanda Johnson of Scipio, followed with remarks from Bishop Arthur Brown of Scipio, George Bushnell sang a solo "Face to Face" with Mrs. Lula Pearson at the piano. Howard Bushnell then spoke and in his remarks referred to his daughter Mable who passed away over 14 months ago, that it was possible the 2 girls were now able to be with one another again. Bishop Jesse J. Bennett made the closing remarks and spoke highly of the character of the dear sister who had passed away. Choir then sang the closing hymn "I Need Thee Every Hour", benediction was by Patriarch Joseph H. Fisher. Interment was in the Meadow cemetery. Dedication of the grave was by J. Clem Duncan.
Surviving relatives besides her parents are her loving husband Doyle G. Johnson; also 4 sisters; Mrs. Charlotte Robison, Amelia and Melba Cowley; and 3 brothers, John, Ivan and Elden Cowley. The heartfelt sympathy of the entire community goes to the bereaved family and husband at this their sad hour.
