Dorothy May Spencer, rural Sumner, IL, died Wednesday, December 22, 2004, at her home. She was 77.

Born in Lawrenceville, IL, on March 13, 1927, she was the daughter of Thomas Francis Monjar and Josie May Scranton Monjar. She married Eddie Spencer on December 9, 1950 and he survives.

She was a school P.E. Teacher and taught in Robinson School system; Petty School; and Bridgeport High School, a total of 32 years, retiring in 1985. She enjoyed children and painting; was a life-long member of Free Methodist Church in Lawrenceville.

Survivors include her husband of rural Sumner; two sons, Tom Spencer of rural Sumner and Shawn Spencer and wife Wanda of rural Flat Rock; one brother, Thomas Dwight Monjar of rural Sumner; one sister, Frances Rosemary Thompson of Temperance, MI; two grandchildren, Ed Spencer and Shannon Spencer and two great-grandchildren, Noah and Nathan Spencer.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, December 27, 2004, at Emmons-Macey & Steffey Funeral Home in Lawrenceville, IL. Burial was in the May Chapel Cemetery, rural Lawrenceville, IL.
