George lost his father at a young age, but he was very close to his mother and siblings. He enlisted in the army during WWI.
On Feb. 15, 1924 he married Verona Brent McDonald in Madisonville, Madison County, Texas, they raised four children, and were happily married for 52 years.
They moved to Houston in the early 1930's where he went to work for Sinclair Oil Company, he retired in 1962 and moved back to his childhood home in Bedias, TX.
He had a very dry sence of humor, someone asked him once what he had been doing, he said, "sittin on the porch watching the grass grow". We all loved that porch, and our visits to see our Papaw & Mamaw.
He was a cat person, and loved to work early in the morning in his garden. We love and miss him.
