Services for Mrs Viola Fowler Ivy of the New Chapel community were held at 2 PM Friday in the New Chapel Methodist Church with the Rev Ray Wallace officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery with Pickle Funeral Home in charge. She was 84.
Mrs Ivy died at 2:50 AM Thursday at her home after an illness of nine months.
Mrs Ivy was born in Itawamba County at Marietta, but resided most of her life in the Limestone community of Lee County moving to New Chapel only 15 years ago.
She was married in 1897 to Y H "Ned" Ivy, who died in 1951. She was a member of Limestone Baptist Church.
Mrs Ivy leaves two daughters, Mrs Johnny Ridings of Nettleton and Mrs Marie Randolph of Griffin GA; a brother Oscar Fowler of Birmingham AL; three grandchildren and one great grandchild.
