My dear child
I, your dear mother, greatly desire to live with
and train you in all the ways of righteousness
though as I am so severely afficted, I fear
that I can never perform this duty, nor enjoy
the pleasure, so I desire to make known
some of my desires toward you, My dear
child, if I should not have the privilege of
living with and training of you, I want you
to be a good child all the days of you life.
first; be a good and abedient child to your
parents. As soon as you can get an educa-
tion, then read the bible that I leave for
you, which will teach you all righteousness,
when you read and become acquainted
with God, fear him and keep his comm-
andments, seek him and his righteousiness
and he (God) will give you all the
blessings that is best for you, in this life
and a home in Heaven at last.
My dear little darling boy, if I cannot live,
I your loving mother, leave for you her
bible and trunk, for your own use; I now
ask you my darling child to never keep bad
company, always shun it, keep the company
of honest Christians and try to live for God, so
when you must pass away like may you
will meet me in Heaven that I myself enjoy
your presence with God and all his people.
My darling child, I now commit you to the care
of our parents on earth and our God in Heaven.
May they all care for, guide, direct, and protect you
through all this life and the life to come is the request
and prayer of your loving mother.
