Gladys Pearl (Boren) Hawkins, 91, retired Walker Brothers Dept. Store buyer, died Tuesday, Feb. 26, 2002. Service 10 a.m. Friday, Wichita Park Cemetery.
Mrs. Hawkins was born May 27, 1910 in Weaubleau, Mo., to the late William Andrew and Emma (Duncan) Boren. She was a lifetime member of Rose Douglas Chapter of Eastern Star, Acasia White Shrine, past noble grand of Queen City Rebekah Lodge, Wichita, past president of Twin Lakes Business and Professional Women's Club, Wichita and a member of VFW Auxiliary No. 112, Wichita. Preceded in death by husband, Paul Williams Hawkins; son, William Richard Hawkins and sister and brother-in-law, Annis and W. B. Owsley.
Survivors: son and daughter-in-law, Paul Gene and Jean Hawkins of Frost, Texas; grandchildren and spouse, Tim Hawkins of Dallas, Jana and Carl Comyford of Springtown, Texas; three great-grandchildren; two nephews; two nieces. Culbertson-Smith Mortuary. (Taken from The Wichita Eagle.)

Had 8th grade education, graduating Weaubleau, Mo. public school.
Worked most of her adult life outside the home. Was one of the "Rosie the Riviters" during WW2. Accomplished seamstress.
Resided at Wichita, Kansas, Carthage, Tx., Ft. Worth, Tx., and Ninnescah Manor, Inc. health care facility, Clearwater, Ks.
Suffered massive heart attack in 1996 while at Carthage, Tx.
Member of Order of Eastern Star, The Rebecca's, and received her 50 year pin from the OES in Sept 1997 at Wichita, Ks.
Was lifetime member of VFW Auxilary, Wichita, Ks.
Was den mother for Cub Scouts of America at Wichta, Ks.
