Funeral Services for Bessie Grigar, 92, of Orchard, Texas are at 10:00 am, Saturday, September 25, 2010 at Guardian Angel Catholic Church, 2610 Demel, Wallis, Texas 77485 with Msgr. B. J. Zientek celebrating the Funeral Mass and Rite of Committal. Interment in the Guardian Angel Catholic Cemetery in Wallis. Pallbearers for the service are Michael Grigar, Ryan Rychlik, Patrick Tarlton, Greg Meadlin, Pat Perry and Robert Rucka.
Bessie Carolyn Gratzek was born in Orchard, Texas to parents Ignac and Frances Pavliska Gratzek on September 27, 1917. She grew up in Orchard and attended Orchard High School. On November 19, 1935 she married Sylvester F. Grigar at Guardian Angel Catholic Church in Wallis, Texas. She had worked for Woolworths, Weiners, R.B. Dept. Store and Lamar Consolidated ISD cafeteria. Bessie loved to play 42 in dominoes, baking pastries, dancing and making rosary's for the church.
Bessie was a member of Guardian Angel Catholic Church, Catholic Daughters of Wallis, KJZT and KJT of Wallis, Altar Society Guardian Angel, and Sons of Herman in Rosenberg, TX.
Survivors include her children, Bob Grigar and wife Gail of Livingston, Jerry Grigar and wife Gail of Montgomery, Shirley Pavlock and husband John of Rosenberg, Sharon Foytik of Texas City and Jim Grigar and wife Cynthia of Sealy, sisters, Sylvia Dugas of Odessa and Sophia Barnes of Wimberly, grandchildren and spouses, Micha Dawn Rucka and Robert, Donna Lynn Felts, Natalie Meadlin and Greg, Wendy Perry and Pat, Paula Rychlik and Ryan, Renee Tarlton and Patrick, Michael Grigar and Fiancee` Sheila Via and Pamela Bosiacki and Charles and 9 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great-grandchildren..
She was preceded in death by parents, Ignac and Frances Gratzek, husband, Sylvester F. Grigar, sisters, Emma Demny, Anne Zdunkawicz, Lena Court and Mary Staffa, brothers Joe, Henry, Willie and August Gratzek.
Visitation is at Guardian Angel Catholic Church in Wallis from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm with a Rosary at 7:00 pm.
