Horace W. Wilkins
Horace Webb Wilkins, age 89, passed away on March 22, 2008 in Delta, Utah. He was born on July 4, 1918 in Menan, Idaho to Horace Franklyn and Alta Webb Wilkins. He married Pearl Nichols on July 31, 1950 in the Logan LDS Temple. She died January 29, 1980.
During WWII, Horace was a Technician in the 366th Medical Battalion that was attached to the 66th Infantry Division.
He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, serving as a home teacher, Elders Quorum Secretary, Sunday School President, Priesthood Representative and Ward Clerk. He was also very involved the activities, such as church baseball/basketball and Young Women's Camp. He was a volunteer in the 4-H, where he taught Wildlife and Archery. He loved roller skating, hunting, fishing and the West Desert. Also was a Hinckley Lion's Club member.
Horace is survived by his children: Alan W. (Deb) Wilkins, Hinckley; Trina W. Spotz, Sandy; 9 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren; brother: Harold LeRoy Wilkins, Norwalk, CA. He was preceded in death by wife: Pearl Nichols Wilkins; daughter: Susan Wilkins; sister: Helen Merrie Olsen; son-in-law: Steven M. Spotz.
Services were held on Tuesday, March 25, 2008 at 11 am at the Hinckley LDS Church. Friends called on Monday evening at the Nickle Mortuary, 7-8 pm, and Tuesday morning at the church from 9:30-10:40 am. Burial was in the Oasis Cemetery.
