Family Memories:

He would take you fishing at midnight and predict just when the fish would start biting.

He would listen all about your car trouble over the telephone and tell you what to adjust or what to replace to make it run again.

He would entertain grandkids for hours at a time -- not by sending them out to play, but taking them out to play where he would throw a rope over the limb in the Big Tall Tree and stay there to help them swing...or take them exploring his abundant garden down rows of tomatos and peppers and sqaush and potatos.

He would grill some of the best hamburgers you'd ever eaten anywhere.

He would take a chunk of wood and a piece of scrap metal and fashion an interesting knife--then give it away.

He would stock your shelves year after year with fig preserves and blackberry jelly...and pear preserves made with pears off limbs in Shreveport that he had grafted from his grandmother's old pear tree in Shongaloo.

He would travel -- even when in his mid-seventies -- to Minden to climb into an attic and re-wire a house....or to Texas to help your pack and pick-up and move everything you owned.

He would quietly provide funds when you were financially challenged....or when you wanted to travel the globe to work in a mission field.

He would remember and recognize each of his childrens' birthdays -- and his grandchildrens' birthdays -- and his great-grandchildrens' birthdays -- and even remember all of their names.

He leaves us not only with some wonderful memories, but as a wonderful example of Faithfulness and a wonderful example of Generosity.

He was Faithful to his wife for over 65 years -- through better and worse, through sickness and in health.

He was Faithful to his belief in Jesus Christ the Lord.

He was Faithful to the company for which he worked over a span of 4 decades.

He was Generous with the blessings he had received.

He was Generous with his time and Generous with his attention.

He was a"Man's Man" and he was a Gentleman.

He was physically strong, but also a little bit bashful.

We will miss him so very much....but we will remember.
