MITCHELL, MARSHALL CLARENCE - Age 88, of Ackerson Lake, passed away at the V.A. Medical Center in Ann Arbor, MI., on Tuesday, February 2, 2010. Marshall was born on February 28, 1921, the only child of Muriel (Caldwell) Mitchell and Pierce Burr Mitchell. He was a 1939 graduate of Jackson High School and then served in World War II as a Navy Ensign, Navel Flight Instructor at Pensacola, Florida. While there, he married a Navy Wave in 1945, the former Edna Lucille Shelley. Upon returning to Michigan, he graduated from the University of Michigan. He was preceded in death by his son, James Douglas Mitchell in 1949, and his ex-wife Edna L. Mitchell in August, 2009. Marshall is survived by three sons; John Mitchell and his sons Wyatt & Warren Istvan-Mitchell of Jackson; Thomas Mitchell of Jackson; Mark Mitchell and son Benjamin of Howell, MI.; three daughters; Patricia Blakely wife of Michael of Michigan Center and her children Amy, Kelly, and Brian Georgopoolos of Jackson, MI.; Marsha Omans wife of Darrell and son Marshall of Lakeville, IN.; Shelley Golombek wife to Joseph and son Matthew of Vandercook Lake. Five great-grandchildren; Cierra, Erin, Rylee, Grace; and Caleb Golombek. As were his wishes Marshall's body has been donated to the University of Michigan Medical School and no public services are planned. Later interment will be at the Roseland Memorial Gardens, Jackson, MI.
