Carrol Alden

ADA - Services for Carrol R. Alden, 80, of 414 S. Gilbert, will be 2 p.m. Monday in Hanson Funeral Home, Rev. Elford Hoff officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery.

Mr. Alden died 7:30 p.m. Friday at his home, the victim of an apparent heart attack.

Born Dec. 23, 1889, in Washington County, he was the son of Russell M. and Lucy Dyer Alden. He married Leila Degler June 2, 1916, and she survives at 414 S. Gilbert.

Also surviving are two daughters, Dr. Elizabeth Alden of Iowa City, Iowa, and Dr. Priscilla Ekdahl of Westchester, Pa.; two grandchildren and a brother, Charles of Marietta.

He was a member of First United Methodist Church, a retired engineer at Ex-Cell-O Corp., professor of engineering at Ohio Northern University and an ONU Faculty Club member. He belonged to the Eastern Star and Ada Kiwanis Club. He was a member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers and of her engineering societies.

Mr. Alden is a noted inventor and has a total of 38 patents to his credit. Among them is the paper milk container and machine which produces it.
